- First large-scale delivery of ISCC-certified renewable LNG (R-LNG) on North America’s West Coast.
- Supports compliance with IMO Net-Zero Framework and EU FuelEU Maritime Regulation.
- Expands lower-carbon fuel options for shipowners without compromising operational performance.
Seaspan Energy and Anew Climate have entered a strategic partnership to deliver renewable liquefied natural gas (R-LNG) to shipowners along the North American West Coast. The initiative marks the region’s first large-scale offering of ISCC-certified lower-carbon marine fuel.
Under the agreement, Anew will supply renewable natural gas (RNG) certified by the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) system, alongside pre-audit services to prepare Seaspan for ISCC certification. The fuel will meet global decarbonization standards, including the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) Net-Zero Framework and the European Union’s FuelEU Maritime Regulation.
The collaboration builds on Anew Climate’s history in the sector, including facilitating the first U.S. bio-LNG bunkering in 2021 when it operated as Element Markets. Seaspan Energy, a leader in ship-to-ship LNG bunkering, will now extend its portfolio to include ISCC-certified R-LNG, targeting scalable distribution along the coast.

“At a time when global shipping is under pressure to decarbonize, this partnership brings together two innovators committed to advancing sustainable solutions,” said Andy Brosnan, President, Anew Climate Low Carbon Fuels. “By combining Anew’s expertise in RNG with Seaspan’s marine logistic capabilities, we’re offering a market-leading approach to help shipowners meet evolving emissions requirements and reduce their environmental impact without compromising performance.”
Harly Penner, President of Seaspan Energy, added, “We’re proud to collaborate with Anew Climate to forge a new path for lower-carbon marine fuel. This partnership supports our goal to provide cleaner energy solutions to the maritime industry and demonstrates our dedication to innovation and environmental leadership.”
The partners will also work to identify and develop new commercial opportunities that encourage adoption of lower-carbon fuels across the maritime sector.
