- €400M milestone: Repsol’s largest wind farm, Antofagasta Phase 1, begins electricity production after a €400 million investment.
- 750 GWh annual output: The facility will supply renewable power to 220,000 Chilean homes.
- Expansion in progress: Phase 2, adding 450 MW, is in the pipeline—underscoring Repsol’s strategic growth in Latin America.
Repsol has officially started electricity production at Antofagasta Phase 1, the company’s largest wind project to date and one of Chile’s biggest renewable installations. The 364 MW facility is located in Taltal, in the Antofagasta region, and marks a major step in Repsol’s independent development of renewable assets in Latin America.
“This is the first renewable project developed entirely by Repsol in Chile,” the company confirmed.
The wind farm, constructed over 19 months with an investment approaching €400 million, is slated to enter full commercial operation in the coming weeks. It will generate 750 GWh annually, equivalent to the electricity demand of approximately 220,000 Chilean households.
Repsol is already moving forward with Antofagasta Phase 2, which will contribute an additional 450 MW to its renewable portfolio in the region. Unlike earlier ventures—including Cabo Leones III (188 MW) and Atacama (166 MW), developed through a 50:50 joint venture with Ibereólica Renovables Group—both phases of the Antofagasta project are wholly owned by Repsol.

“Renewable generation projects are one of the strategic pillars of Repsol’s energy transition process,” the company stated.
Repsol now operates nearly 4,000 MW of renewable capacity globally and maintains a pipeline of 60,000 MW at various stages of development, reinforcing its long-term shift toward low-carbon energy.
