- LEGO’s community programs in Vietnam will reach over 60,000 children by the end of 2025 through educational play initiatives.
The LEGO Group has officially opened its most environmentally sustainable factory to date in Binh Duong, Vietnam—marking a strategic move to expand its manufacturing footprint across Asia-Pacific and meet growing regional demand.
“Today marks an exciting milestone for us as we proudly open our sixth factory in the world,” said Niels B. Christiansen, CEO of the LEGO Group. “This state-of-the-art site reflects our commitment to sustainable growth and innovation, bringing more LEGO play experiences to children and our fans in the Asia-Pacific region through increased manufacturing capacity.”

Attended by His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister Mai Văn Chính and former President Nguyen Minh Triet, the opening ceremony highlighted LEGO’s long-term commitment to the region.
A New Global Standard for Sustainability
Set to run on 100% renewable energy by early 2026, LEGO Manufacturing Vietnam integrates 12,400 rooftop solar panels and will be powered in part by a new energy centre developed with Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP)—featuring the country’s first large-scale battery storage solution.
“I am extremely proud of our environmental sustainability progress in Vietnam, strengthening our positive impact locally while supporting our global ambitions,” said Carsten Rasmussen, COO of the LEGO Group. “The use of battery storage solutions and power purchase agreements… is not just a first for the LEGO Group but among the first for any company in Vietnam.”

The factory is also the first LEGO facility to receive LEED Platinum certification for its administrative and play buildings, with other key structures rated LEED Gold. It is the only LEGO factory to exclusively use paper-based pre-pack bags.
Future-Proofing the Workforce
In preparation for operations, LEGO launched an internal training program combining international best practices with local instruction, supported by over 100 global trainers. The site also serves as a blueprint for LEGO’s Future Factory Workplace concept—prioritizing inclusion, wellbeing, and innovation.
Facilities include green workspaces, play areas, lactation and prayer rooms, indoor/outdoor break zones, and full wheelchair accessibility.

Expanding Learning Through Play in Vietnam
LEGO’s mission to “inspire and develop the builders of tomorrow” is being brought to life through partnerships with the National Centre for Special Education, Save the Children International, and the LIFE Centre. Programs such as LEGO Braille Bricks, Girls Unstoppable, and Build the Change are already reaching tens of thousands of children across Vietnam.
By the end of 2025, more than 60,000 children will benefit from LEGO’s community-based learning-through-play initiatives.
Strengthening Supply Chain Resilience
To complement the new factory, LEGO will open a regional distribution centre in Dong Nai province later this year. Operated by Kuehne+Nagel, the facility is already handling initial shipments and will bolster supply chain flexibility across Asia.
With sustainability, scale, and community impact at the core, LEGO Manufacturing Vietnam is not just a production hub—but a model for responsible growth in emerging markets.
